Your collectors edition is awesome (like you in general!). I especially like some of the updated unnaturals. They look way better than the originals. The written instructions are useful as well! Anyway, thank you!
aww, thank you! i rly like the updated unnaturals too (obviously, since i made ‘em). i don’t know if it’s that my aesthetic has changed or just my computer monitor but a lot of the old ones are just plain too bright for me these days.
i hope i can figure out a way to replicate the actions in gimp or s/t but for the time being at least i’m rly glad the written instructions are useful!
Hope your basement gets drained and your kitty gets better soon
thank you anon! yr very kind. things have turned around for the moment. tumbleweed is back to tumbling in full force and aside from water damage to an already water damaged basement things are fine in that regard. here is a cat gif for you!!
HMX still does that cool iridescent two-toney thing, right?
Yes! I mean, I think so! I tried really hard to retain the violet shadows/blue highlights combo while giving the shadows more realistic depth instead of being all flood-fill. If you like the old one better, though, definitely keep using that one. :)
Here’s a full length texture with the new HMX action applied so you can get a better sense of how it looks.
Zip contains all base textures and actions, including all new and old versions of actions, as well as the colors that I no longer use. Written instructions and swatches provided for everything, plus some info and accompanying actions for a method of retexturing hair that is perhaps slightly less soul-crushing than individually replacing every texture in a given file?
Below the read more are some swatches of all the actions that I updated, comparing the before and after.
Hey, pooklet! I think it's really great that you offered up the hex codes for your unnatural hair colors. Would you happen to have them for your natural colors too?
Ahhh, thanks for the reminder, I forgot all about that when my laptop imploded and I had to send it off to be fixed like fourteen times (by which I mean three). I don’t 100% have my TS3 game installed and set up, so if someone else would like to gather these for me I’d be really grateful, but if no one gets to it I’ll do it once I’m done with a couple other projects that I’ve been putting off forever!
Hello Pooklet! I have been absent from the whole Sims universe for quite a while now, and I've just discovered there is a version 3.5 of your magnificent colors/textures. Can I ask which colors are new in this version? Or basically, what's different between V3 and V3.5. I hope it's not a silly question and that I didn't bother you too much. .///. Oh, and by the way, I love your work!! Thanks for sharing all this with us, you rock!
Hello anon! Yr not bothering me at all. :) Yeah, the difference is that for v3 there was a new base texture only, whereas 3.5 added new color actions, updated some old ones, and tossed out the ones I no longer use. Verocchio on LJ was good enough to post a handy guide here!
Taking a look at my zips now, they are an absolute mess so in the interest of minimizing confusion, I’m going to do some reorganizing tonight. If you don’t mind waiting, I’ll post a link as soon as I’m done. I plan to consolidate a single zip of all the textures and actions both new and old (including some very slight updates to a couple of the older actions that I haven’t posted yet), and toss out the pre-colored textures. Because they’re not only outdated but ultimately pretty unhelpful and it’s about time I made good on my vague plans to try to recreate my actions in GIMP or something similar (read: free) for the Photoshopless.
Thank you v. much for the (inadvertent) reminder to get my shit together and for yr kind words. :D You rock, too, anon! CAT GIF.
Hi there! I first must gush about how awesome you are! You are a CC deity and our community is so lucky to have such a creative person like you! ^w^ I do have a minor question, however. I noticed at the top of your blog you have a tiny little Sailor Moon icon, in the tab of your simblr. How did you get her there?? Thank you, most wonderful divinity of simming! 8D! xxStephanie
kfjhgdhfgldhg omg what ajhdfkg nooo this is too nice cannot cope
but for serious i didn’t do anything rly, everything i’ve ever made was either just a poor imitation of someone else’s work or blatant coattail riding. i feel really weird taking credit when like 99.9% of my stuff is frankensteined from people with actual artistic talent, lol. but yeah i’m just rly glad when ppl find my stuff useful!
and as for the tiny sailor moon, i am hoping this tutorial will cover it? (or this?) the html was already included in my theme so i don’t know for certain how to do it from scratch. all i did was upload a sprite from a PSSM:AS fansite in the box where it told me to!
they have their own personal dropbox. remember, if something isn’t there, there is a 99% chance i do nothave it. i ruthlessly cull my own content and i cannot be relied upon to keep backups. (but if you have something, send it to me and i will upload it there!)
by the way if you are thinking of signing up for dropbox you can get 500mb extra space by using my referral link. i will also get 500mb of space. it will be a cool time for all involved.
I wanted to say I really like the skins you made time ago, not really a question. They are the only I use. The eyes as well. Thanks! :D ....Wait, I do have a question! Have you also created clothes? :O
Thank you! :D I’m super glad you like them.
Some! But for the most part I use what Azaya makes. We sort of unintentionally split the duty of who makes what for our games, lol. I do genetics, makeup and lot-building, Azaya does clothes, deco and lot-decorating, and then we both do hair. Most of my clothing sets are pretty old and trapped on the box.com account right now. But we’re both on a mission to make a bunch more femme clothes for all genders, so I’ll probably make some new stuff for the GoS monthly theme!
I. Um? Because I’m a big reclusive weirdo with zero people skills? Because I don’t actually do much sim stuff, all things considered? Because there are loads of way better, more interesting, more helpful and more creative creators out there? There’s lots of reasons!
I’m totally content with my level of involvement in the sims community, anon. I did a sort of helpful thing years ago that lots of really cool people have improved upon massively since then! Now I get to never do anything useful again and be the Snorlax that I was always meant to be in my heart and also my soul.
HEY i dont wanna sound whiney or anything but i just restarted my game and i was wondering if u have ur v3 textures lying around somewhere accessible bc i have been ITCHING to retexture these hairs piled up on my hard drive and why do i sound so needy omg [/grand jetés out of ask box]
not at all whiny, those i definitely DO have. i actually have a few variations on hand that i don’t think i uploaded before so i put those in the zip, too. here you go.
p.s. send me a link when you finish retexturing ok!!
